Yellow Cat Design was founded by Mark Bird after many years working across design agencies, in-house marketing teams and freelance consultancy roles.
Since 2012, Yellow Cat Design has helped businesses present themselves more clearly and professionally through thoughtful design, practical advice and commercial understanding.
The approach is personal, collaborative and straightforward, giving clients experienced design support with the flexibility to adapt around the size, shape and needs of each project.
The Journey: From Print to UX/UI
A 25-year design career built across brand, print, web and digital products.
Mark’s career began in traditional print design, artwork and pre-press studio management, where accuracy, consistency and attention to detail were essential.
Those skills still play an important role today. Strong layout, typography, and brand consistency are just as valuable in digital design as they are in print.
As the industry changed, Mark’s work naturally expanded into websites, digital marketing, UX/UI and product design – bringing together creative, technical and commercial thinking to create design that works in the real world.

Hi, I’m Mark – the designer, creative consultant and problem-solver behind Yellow Cat Design.
The part of the job I still enjoy most is collaborating closely with people. Every project is different, but my approach is always the same: get to the heart of the problem, understand your business properly, and deliver the best possible results within your budget.
Good design relies on straightforward, honest communication, which is why I keep the process collaborative, practical and jargon-free. While I lead every project personally, I also scale up when a project demands it, drawing from a trusted network of specialist developers, writers and creators to bring extra expertise to the table.
